The Big Coins in Deakin celebrate Australia's currency and the Royal Australian Mint, which has been producing the nation's coins since 1965. These impressive oversized replicas of Australian coins showcase the intricate designs that appear on our everyday currency - from the distinctive kangaroo and emu on the 50 cent piece to the platypus on the 20 cent coin. Located near the Mint itself, the Big Coins invite visitors to appreciate the artistry that goes into something we often take for granted. The Royal Australian Mint is the only mint in Australia and produces not just circulating coins but also commemorative and collector coins sold worldwide.
