The Big Photo Frame in Stanley provides the perfect compositional device for capturing one of Tasmania's most dramatic landscapes. This oversized frame is strategically positioned to showcase The Nut - the spectacular flat-topped volcanic plug that rises 143 metres above the tiny fishing village below. Visitors can stand before the frame and photograph The Nut perfectly centred within its borders, creating an instant postcard moment. Stanley itself is one of Tasmania's most picturesque historic villages, with colonial buildings, working fishing boats, and views that make every angle photo-worthy. The Big Photo Frame just makes it easier.

"Stanley was the headquarters of the Van Diemen's Land Company"
History
Stanley is one of Tasmania's oldest settlements, established by the Van Diemen's Land Company in 1826. The Nut - called Circular Head by early settlers - dominates the landscape and was formed by volcanic activity around 13 million years ago. The lava plug resisted erosion while the surrounding material wore away, leaving the distinctive flat-topped formation. Stanley developed as a port and fishing village, and today its heritage streetscape and stunning location make it a major tourist destination. The Big Photo Frame was installed to help visitors capture the perfect shot of this remarkable geological landmark.
